making our structural changes
Our sales representative made it very clear that anything structure-related should be well defined by this appointment so that she could file a change order. While my boyfriend and I were pretty set on the options we wanted, we made sure to compare our own sheet of options we selected from the master selection sheet to the one that we signed when we met up with our sales representative to sign our purchase agreement. We noticed that one standard option and one non-standard option were missing from our master selection sheet. We made sure to email our sales representative as well as make a note to ourselves so that we don’t miss it during our meeting!
Overall, this meeting didn’t take too long. We had set aside an hour but probably took about 45 minutes. After this meeting, we checked out the mini design center to get an idea of what type of cabinets and granite we would want in our home.
Pro Tips
Look over your needs and wants list to make sure you have everything that you wanted in your home included in the Master Selection Sheet. There’s a lot of options to go through! It’s easy to miss non-standard requests and even requests that are standard since there are so many rows.
Take a few more days looking at the list of things you wanted in the home. Consider:
Is it something that can be easily changed after your home is fully built?
Is it something you can afford to do now?
How much money would you save by including the option in your home now versus doing it later?
If you can, ask about typical non-standard options other customers have requested, as that might give you some more ideas of what you might want to consider adding.
